Many sick children and their families will be enjoying a brighter Chanukah this year – thanks to Lakewood Police Chief Greg Meyer and his team.
On Monday afternoon and into the evening, the Chief and some of his officers made their way to the homes of sick children in Lakewood, and personally delivered to them toys, games and more.
It took weeks of planning and coordination, but it was well worth it when the team got to see some of the brightest smiles these children have given since being struck with illness.
“There’s nothing like it,” says Chief Meyer. “Watching these children unwrap their gifts, and the joy it brought them, was just priceless.”
The items were sponsored by local merchants and residents over the past few weeks, then methodically sorted by age and gender, and then wrapped and labeled.
The operation, which has now become an annual event, was coordinated by Special Operations Coordinator Ben Inzelbuch.
“Walking into each home and seeing their excitement witnessing the whole scene, made it all worth it,” Ben says. “It’s an honor to be involved with such a caring Chief and Department.”
