EXCLUSIVE VIDEO & PHOTOS: Dr. Roberts leads Lakewood group on ‘Kiddush Hashem’ trip to U.S. Naval Base in Florida

Kiddush Hashem was the primary reason for a trip last week to a U.S. Naval base in Jacksonville Florida, led by Dr. Rich Roberts of Lakewood.

The five-person group from Lakewood – comprised of a Rabbi and business-owners – joined a larger group of members of the Jewish Institute for National Security of America (JINSA), which visited the U.S. Naval Station Mayport, as well as the Navy’s Airbase.

The members of the tour got to hear about U.S. Navy operations, its sailors and pilots, and get an actual tour of warships, planes, training facilities and simulators.

“The main purpose of the trip was to make a Kiddush Hashem,” says Dr. Roberts, by interacting with the various brass of the Navy, and by showing our appreciation and respect for those who sacrifice their lives on behalf of this great Country.

See snippets of the trip below, along with a trip-roundup from Dr. Roberts.

    • Really? A group of frum businessmen making a trip out to Florida to thank these heroes for their service is not a Kiddush Hashem? Dr. Roberts: Kudos and keep up your amazing work.

  1. Beautiful!

Rabbi Roberts is a shining example of kiddish hashem. He uses his connections and philanthropy to be mekadesh shem shomayim.

While we’re at it, we should thank him again for his amazing carnivals and everything else he contributes to this town.

  2. I proudly started flying the flag in front of my home when I thought for a few minutes about the Hakaras Ha’tov (Appreciation of the Good) we need to have for our soldiers across the world. Our army, navy, and air-force members have left their families to fight in super dangerous countries that me and you wouldn’t want to stop in for a coffee. These heroes protect our great country, and our freedom on a daily basis and for this I have tremendous feelings of gratitude. To me the flag represents the selfless dedication of our service members across the world.

Kudos to Dr. Roberts for making the trip out to thank our army members in person.

May God bless America, the flag, our service members, our law enforcement, and the entire United States of America.

  3. I regularly visit military bases, some of them in quite remote locations, as part of my work. Have always been treated well (albeit a little curiously), b”h, and would like to think that I have been a good ambassador for frum Yidden. Just don’t understand the particulars of a visit like this, as in military environments you basically stick to issues at hand, rather than it being a format to make any specific social statement. So I would be curious to find out more about this trip.

  4. Of course we must appreciate Dr. Roberts for everything he does for the klal, including his carnivals. The same goes for the US Military. When IDF soldiers fall, we all cry. When the IDF is engaged in a war, we all daven. But we must have hakaras hatov to all the serviceman who serve in all the branches of the US Military. In my opinion, there’s no need for TLS to post pictures of Dr. Roberts on a private jet. That’s just showing off.
