Many have been inquiring regarding the partial closures on New Hampshire Avenue.
As earlier reported, the County is currently installing sidewalks along the County road between Ridge Avenue and Route 88. The project is expected to take another few weeks.
New Hampshire Avenue southbound from Ridge Avenue is shut, and a detour is in place, taking drivers to either Joe Parker Road, or Somerset Avenue to Route 88.

Can the twp please put up signs a few blocks prior to these closures?
It is so annoying to go all the way down only to have to make a U-turn.
Same with Williams.
Also, why cant the twp let residents know in advance, with signs, like they have done in the past? closing off Marc with no prior notice is very frustrating. (Not to mention why it couldn’t be done over shvous)
i am very excited and grateful to the county for making these much need sidewalks.
just wondering why they would make the pavement continuous on the same side..and make people cross over in middle of new hampshire
Although New Hampshire Ave. is a County roadway – the sidewalks are NOT being installed by the county. The sidewalks are a Lakewood Twp project being paid for with Lakewood Township funds.
My question though, is why does the Township Engineering Dept want such narrow sidewalks. Presumably the new sidewalks will be utilized by hundreds of people daily, and constructing them to be 5 or 6 feet wide will make a big difference in providing sufficient room for the users. There is plenty of space available for sufficiently wide sidewalks.
Why couldn’t this be done when school was out New Hampshire is a Maine road to all schools on Oberlin and public schools bus drivers have to go all around town to students stops and they are on the bus longer and get to next school late can’t this be done at night
