PHOTOS: New Jersey’s Education Commisoner, David Hespe, was in Lakewood today to meet with school deans, community leaders, seniors and the UNITE group.

Hespe, a former Lakewood resident, was appointed Acting Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Education last year.

The seoerate meetings, held at the Lakewood BOE offices, touched on various topics in the educational field, as well as busing, and other critical services the town needs.

Agudath Israel’s New Jersey Director Avi Schnall was among many Askonim attending the first meeting with the Commissioner.

“Todays meeting with Commissioner Hespe was very positive and productive,” Schnall told TLS. “A good dialogue has begun and the commissioner is committed to help create both a short-term solution as well as a long-term plan that will benefit all school children in Lakewood. We are very grateful and appreciate the Commissioner’s willingness to help.”
