Governor Murphy Compares Unvaccinated People to Drunk Drivers

Governor Phil Murphy on Monday compared unvaccinated individuals to drunk drivers.

“I think it is selfish,” Murphy said in response to a reporter’s question over whether being unvaccinated is selfish.

“I think there are obviously some people who have a legitimate reason that they’re not vaccinated or boosted, so I’m going to put that group aside,” Murphy said.

“I think it’s a shirking of our collective responsibility. I do think it’s akin to drunk driving. You’re not only putting yourself at risk, you’re putting other people at risk.”

Republican Senator Michael Testa slammed Murphy for the comparison.

“Governor Murphy is absolutely wrong to compare being unvaccinated to driving drunk, especially when Omicron is both infecting and being transmitted by vaccinated people at high rates,” Testa said.

“It’s telling that he’s now resorting to increasingly extreme rhetoric to try to justify his unpopular and unscientific vaccine mandates. Republicans are constantly accused of not following the science, yet it’s the governor who repeatedly refuses to accept data that doesn’t support his executive orders.”

  1. Murphy is indeed drunk with power! Mandating masks and vaccines when the science shows us constantly that neither masks or vaccination helps is selfish and disgusting but we always new a Democrat will cheat to stay in power and force us to follow his socialist ideologies!!! We are sick if liberals and their lies!

  2. What a hack, the vaccinated can spread covid just as much as the unvaccinated, and besides being unvaccinated does not mean you have covid, a better comparison would be the unvaccinated are like people who drive while owning alcoholic beverages, which is meaningless. He is using such idiotic lies to be able to justify when he imposes vaccine and booster mandates.

  3. Isn’t it amazing that he (and the medical establishment) doesn’t even entertain the thought that there might be other legitimate opinons that happen to disagree with them? The gayva of them all is apalling and that’s why they have all destroyed any credibility they once had…..

  4. Why such a low bar? its like walking around shooting an AK-47 non stop!
Surprised he doesn’t have a vaccine mandate for everyone with such a warped take – that last minute election claim must be holding him back!

  5. After all this I dread ever having to rely on a doctor. Really sad. It used to be a given that you can rely on a doctor’s opinion with your eyes closed. Time will tell what agenda and benefits these people had in misleading everyone.

  6. Murphy is not a Shoytih. As a result of the few billion people in the world whom are unvaccinated Covid and Covid Variants are still with us and will always be; if the entire world will be fully vaccinated all Covid will be gone forever. Anti Vexers and Drunk Drivers are both sweet talking Rotzchim.

    • Can you please bring any proof to what you said? What is the roof that the Covid shot is necessary, safe or effective? There is no proof to any of that, the government didn’t even approve it – only EUA, and had they approve HCQ, they could not have legally given EUA to the “vaccine”, as the law is that they may not make a vaccine – which always has risks – and especially an untested one – that no one can be sued for – when there are simple, safe solutions. THEY are the rotzchim, and are making many billions off the shot – without helping anyone – at best.
Tens of thousands died from the shot, and hundreds of thousands seriously injured. 50% of al these occurred within 24 hours of getting the shot, and virtually all within two weeks. These were people in normal health. Experts are saying that more are dying from the shot than have died from Covid. Bearing in mind that the CDC itself admitted that only 6% died from Covid – the rest had a good few serious health problems, and they can die from flu too (as do tens of thousands in the US each year – but the news doesn’t even talk about it). And what about the murders in the hospitals?! That the CDC won’t even admit to.
Also, the CDC doesn’t consider a person actually vaccinated until a full two weeks after the shot, as they say it has not yet fully set in. So, based on that, they can “honestly” say that these are not the Covid shot effects.
      Yemach shemam!

  7. I take issue with all of these comments.

    The governor is 100% correct.

While natural immunity is nice if you have it, there are plenty of people who don’t have it. I was one of those people a few weeks ago. I promptly vaccinated when the vaccine became available last year because I was in a high risk group. I was even boosted.

But then I contracted Omicron. Thank G-d my ordeal was only 4 days and I was able to stay out of the hospital. I attribute my relatively mild symptoms to the vaccine.

If you are unvaccinated and you don’t have natural immunity or your natural immunity has worn off, you run the risk of serious disease and you run the risk of hospitalization – taking an ICU bed away from other people who need it.

Don’t take my word for it. Look at the hospitalization rates during this most recent Omicron spike. They are going up and they are mostly from the unvaccinated population.

So your choice to not vaccinate puts you at risk from taking a bed away from someone else who might need it. That makes you a threat to public health in a similar way that a drunk driver threatens public health. Both are examples of reckless behavior.

Stop reading all the conspiratorial garbage about the vaccines and start listening to the medical community, the overwhelming majority of whom encourage vaccination.

    • I had Omicron too. It lasted 2-3 days & was similar to the common cold.
I attribute my extremely mild symptoms to the fact that I was NOT vaccinated!
The covid vaccine is documented to cause a breakdown in immune system. You are just too willfully blind to see the evidence.

    • Can we pls stop crediting the current situation to the unvaccinated? It is such a lie. I’m allowed to take risks in life even though i might occupy a hospital bed. No one was ever arguing that. It’s a stupid argument. Smoking isnt illegal and many people end up in hospital beds. Skiing isnt illegal etc. the question here is, is if the gov’t should mandate it. And if you think the answer is YES, bec of “public safety”, then I have one simple question: Where does the argument of public safety end?
It’s proven that Covid isn’t a serious illness for 99.9% of people. If you still require a vaccine to protect everyone (IM NOT arguing that the vaccine is ineffective, that’s a dif argument), then by that logic Americans shouldnt be allowed to ski. or drive. or eat unhealthy foods. or smoke. or ever drink alcohol.
PLS RESPOND @Simcha. you do seem to legitimately wanna discuss it

  8. He’s clearly uneducated or lying. The vaccine does not stop you from getting COVID and doesn’t stop you from transmit out to others. At BEST- it may decrease your death risk from COVID – all his hyperbole is nonsense-and the study just released today shows those with previous COVID infection ( read – most of Lakewood and the majority of Jews of NJ ) Are far better protected than the vaccine can do! So for us – the vaccine is all risk and little/no benefit.. But lots of $$$ for Pfizer and Company
