UPDATE: LSTA adds Safety Hotline for Parents following TLS Meeting

As first reported last week, following a meeting between TLS, the LSTA and Askonim, the LSTA took seriously the concerns we brought forward to them from parents, and implemented a new safety hotline.

The hotline has just gone live, and can be heard by calling 732-707-7287.

“We will be checking on and addressing these messages daily, and bring them to the proper authorities if need be,” the LSTA told TLS.

The hotline came about following a meeting at which TLS presented the LSTA with numerous safety concerns, some – based on footage we received from parents – which highlighted extremely dangerous behavior.

Over the last few weeks, there were two major accidents involving buses in Lakewood, one of them the result of a road rage incident.

  1. Sorry but until there is another adult on the bus I wouldn’t feel that the children are safe. A hotline would be there to report AFTER something happened so I don’t think that’s the solution.
For years we are begging for bus monitors…

  2. I’ve had issues with bus monitors. Another solution is to have video monitoring inside and outside the bus and the drivers will be fined if they drive without the monitors running.
