In response to the racist photo caption published in the Asbury Park Press, the Lakewood Township is cutting ties with the paper, TLS has learned.
The word came moments ago, as pressure mounts against the paper from local and State officials, as well as from Governor Murphy.
The Township has been advertising their legal notices in the paper for decades.

The Asbury Park Press has been writing negative articles about the Lakewood community for years.
Finally!
Not only did the APP constantly write slanted articles against the community but we as taxpayers even paid for it by the mandatory advertising.
Good riddance.

What a double standard! When the story of the whole blackface incident over Purim broke, the BOE and all local schools were put on notice and had to convene public meetings to promote equality. The APP was more than happy to jump on that story and demand a response. Yet when they act in a racist fashion, a short written apology from the editor (not a young child dressing up on Purim in bad taste) is deemed sufficient to calm the ensuing media fallout. How would the APP have reacted if the BOE attorney would have just sent out an email after Purim by saying ‘I’m sorry’. This is unfair and an unjust double standard
