  1. Reflectors save lives the have those vest nd belts use them at night.. a couple dollars cans really save your life its not that hard … and dont get me wrong i know some people are at fault on their phones or destracted but sometimes it really is because they can not see you

  2. Nothing to do with building
    Nothing to do with congestion
Rt 88 is pretty quiet at night
    In that particular spot
    There are many homeless, druggies
People of the night etc who roam the streets
Its Dark , but then again Breaking
    its dark EVERYWHERE at nights
    RIP

  3. So when will the streets start to be brightened in Lakewood? This is not a tiny town anymore but a happening moving city with running all over and yes lots of them completely invisible

  4. Is it possible they should give stricter sentences to drunk driving – fighting – and aggressive behavior – if somebody beats up somebody to the point of being hospitalized, unless the victim presser charges, which he is afraid to do because of revente – the perpetrator is released. We need to crack down on criminal behavior – yes reflectors are good – but we have RIFFRAFF around – a lot of RIFF RAFF – and we have to be able to jail them. Are these accidents due to density and overcrowding or are they due to bad criminal processing.

  5. Drivers need to slow down. Everyone is in a rush to go where?? Visibility is difficult on the streets in Lakewood. It is the people who are driving that have the responsibility to be careful and cautious and look for pedestrians

  6. Not true Miriam. Many pedestrians are taking their lives into their own hands by not wearing reflectors. It is almost impossible to see them when you drive.

    • Ha ha,
I love driving at the speed limit, and watching the cars behind me tailgate me and honk and go bananas while trying to pass me. So much fun driving in Lakewood.

  7. please, please wear reflectors. i know of someone whoi was struck because the driver could not see the pedestrian. that man has since died but the pooor driver has to live with this for the rest of his life

  8. More street lights r needed on 88. I live on 88 by cvs n walk downtown at least 3 times a wk. I try n make it home b4 dark because i am scared to walk where there r no sidewalks n no street lights. While driving it is sooo hard to c ppl walkin in the street most times having to swerve. Street lights n sidewalks r a must everywhere

  9. No disrespect to the people who have been hit, but pedestrians must take responsibility for their actions as well. If it’s dark out and it’s not well lit then you need to be a little more cautious. You can see the headlights of oncoming traffic well before they will see you. Will more lighting help? Maybe. Reflectors? Absolutely. But when you have people walking in the road who refuse to use the sidewalks or crosswalks that are provided then they are a big part of the problem.

  10. Miriam,
You can’t be serious! The drivers have a hard time seeing pedestrians at night time. The pedestrians think since we have headlights on our car that we can see them. No! They are the ones that can see the cars coming toward them and need to move to the side of the road. They are getting themselves killed by assuming drivers see them 100 % of the time. Wear reflectors.

  11. You would not believe how many people deliberately walk in the path of traffic. At night they are asking for it… overbuliding is an issue but not related to any of the recent deaths….

As I was driving on cedar ridge last night we had an individual j walk towards liquor store. No respect for moving traffic. If he gets hit and killed it’s his issue.
