Police Chief: Zero DWIs Over Purim

purim lkwd 15 tlsPurim is the most joyous festival in the Jewish calendar, and a day many get highly intoxicated to highlight the miracle that occurred through wine and ultimately intoxication.

But despite thousands around Lakewood getting intoxicated, the value of life was not overlooked.

Police Chief Rob Lawson tells TLS there were zero drivers found driving under the influence over Purim. In fact, the Chief noted, he doesn’t ever recall a DWI arrest involving a Jewish driver over Purim.

  1. To the chief this may be news & is definitely a Kiddush Hashem. But to me it’s not need at all. Of course we don’t drive drunk.

  2. Similarly, one of Reb Aharon’s students related to me that over 60 years ago the gentile workers in the yeshiva were watching a ben hasedorim ballgame of some sort, after an hour of watching, when leaving they responded complimentary – ‘not one foul language’. This is pashut to all of us.

  3. To Bigson… Shame on you for endangering not only your life but that of all others on the road by your reckless and illegal decision to drink and drive. Rather than feeling fortunate that you didn’t get caught, be thankful you didn’t hurt or kill anyone. I’m all for Purim festivities but don’t me selfish, plan ahead and don’t drink and drive.

  4. Eliana –
Seriously? Did you only read the first sentence I wrote? Not every joke is to be taken seriously. Oh, and I’m glad your all for the Purim festivities cause it really would’ve killed my day if you weren’t.
