Hitler-themed Tweets sent by a Hitler-dressed Jackson teen, and daughter of a State trooper, was ruled by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office today as being a tremendously inappropriate thing to do, but carried no criminal weight.
“I in no way want to downplay the seriousness of their actions, but this is just teenagers doing tremendously inappropriate things and showed a total lapse in judgment on their part,” Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Spokesman Al Della Fave told TLS today.
The tweets, which Della Fave says appeared to be teens thinking they were tweeting between themselves, prompted a large stir on the social media site.
One of the tweets by the Hitler-dressed girl (pictured) showed a picture of Rita’s Ice Cream shop in Jackson – a shop frequented by Orthodox Lakewood residents – and stated “perfect bombing time.”
Other tweets from the teens included other blatant anti-Semitic statements, but after review, the Prosecutor’s Office ruled there was no credible threat to press charges.
“There were no threats whatsoever, and there has been no incidents since the January 15 event,” Della Fave said.
Avi Schnall, the Director of Agudath Israel of New Jersey told TLS he respected the decision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
“We have great faith and confidence in the Ocean County Prosecutors decision not to press charges,”Schnall told TLS. “The Prosecutor’s office does a great job protecting the community and we are very grateful.”
Schnall added however, “Some people might dismiss these pictures and say that these are just immature teenagers fooling around, but when Hitler becomes another costume that teenagers dress up in, and bombing a group of Jews becomes humorous, that tells us something is very wrong with our society, and we need to be cautious.”
Some have criticized the Prosecutor’s Office for showing ‘favoritism’ due to the fact that the girl was the daughter of a New Jersey State Trooper, but Della Fave said that played no role in their decision.
“There are no statues against making horrifically offensive and insensitive comments,” Della Fave said.
To prevent such incidents from occurring in the future, Schnall suggested that the school hold an open discussion to address the issue.
“Our hope is that the Jackson school officials would be willing to create an open discussion between the students and members of the Orthodox community. Such a conversation would create positive relationships between the communities and that can be most productive,” Schnall said.
Della Fave says the issue was handled internally, and the teens were disciplined by both their parents and school.

“It’s funny how many people were investigated and charged with threats when they were made on social media following the deaths of two cops in NYC, yet they claim no special treatment was given here. These are learned behaviors. Though I respect the prosecutor decision, what is being done to address the behaviors?
How about opening an investigation into profiling by Jackson police, as since these tweets Jackson police has pulled over way more Jewish motorists than they used to.
The girls father should be fired immediately, this girl didnt just get these ideas in her head they come from the home, such a person can not be trusted to serve and protect

I wouldn’t be surprised if the father took the pictures! With all the incitement by our lovely neighbors in Jackson, are we really surprised? I’m not. What dialogue does Rabbi Schnall want to have exactly? Dialogue with bigots? Just look at where dialogue gets you in the Middle East- in fact just look at where dialogue got the world with Hitler! Brought WWII, with some 60-80 million dead as a result.
If a muslin teen had posted such things, the FBI would be down here. Perhaps they were. Nevertheless is very upsetting that a child would have such hatred . And what is going on in that house to foster and attitude like this. Its very disturbing.

Oh, and what would’ve happened if these were white supremacists tweeting such threats against blacks! Sharpton would be here(that Obama would be here is out of the question). But since it’s Jews and a “troopers” daughter, we’re gonna allow the principal and parents to discipline them! And I hate to say it but it is extremely foolish(in my opinion) of Rabbi Schnall to propose dialogue. This is pure unadulterated Anti-Semitism and we need to stop the stupid niceties and politics and call it what it is. This is the result of the incessant incitement that has been going on in the surrounding towns, specifically in Jackson, over the past several years. Period.

To the father: This is just the beginning of your child’s deviant behavior. You can’t passively watch and hope it goes away with time. For starters, confiscate the I-phone you pay for now. Get more tips from the Tough Love website. Children need strong Dads. Especially daughters.

#6- I really think that to blame her father is not only unfair but wrong. Don’t we have in our own community kids that are not …..shall we say not the way their parents would like to see them grow up. Parents can only do so much and in many cases – and it could be in this case too this girl has a mind of her own and was influenced by people other then her father or her immediate family.
I really think we need to lower the tone a little. We have tremendous respect for all law enforcement… no less the Jackson Police Department who as neighbors assist our town in ways that none of us really know. This incident cannot be in the way of our overall appreciation towards the JPD.
It truly IS worrisome that a teenager got these ideas into her head, but I would think a couple of times before I blame either of her parents. For those who don’t have teenagers, many times the apple DOES fall far from the tree – if there is a wind blowing. The question is, from where is the wind?????
This is what happens when people don’t respect each others differences. Anyone who is not like themselves are on the ‘wrong’ side. I would be mortified if my child did something like this. She should make a public apology and take some classes on diversity.
She probably reads the comments section of the Asbury park press to get her ideas.

As a local non Jewish resident of Lakewood,I am most mortified by what this teen did,however like Lakewood mom commented,apples do fall far from the tree,so hard to blame the parents,however being that the dad is a cop,meaning a public servant,he should have the courage(assuming he is in fact horrified by his daughters actions) to make a videoed apology for his daughters actions.
I agree that we can’t place blame so fast; I also find that the OCPO has proven to be fair and it behooves us to remember what teenage-hood is all about. Of course, it shouldn’t be taken lightly and should be stopped in its tracks, but it shouldn’t be overblown either. I don’t see why dialogue is such a foolish idea. It would be great if we could get the students together with some people from our community so that they can get to know what we’re really all about… They may just find that we’re not all that bad! Who can blame kids who hear the most horrific things in the media about us?
Dialogue is the last thing needed… this pathetic girl should just be happy she started up with the Jews… If she would have written this hatred about other ethnic groups, there would protests on her front lawn….
I posted earlier today. Every time I see her picture, it makes me cringe. She should have watched the HBO special I did last week on the holocaust. It was heartbreaking to see how another human being could treat another. Also, I just read on another site that she did ‘nothing wrong’; just voicing her opinion, and wouldn’t be prosecuted. How about the comment she posted where she stated where a good place to place a bomb would be. I’m outraged, and I’m not Jewish. What a family she must have.

The prosecutor should’ve made her write a handwritten letter apologizing to the Lakewood community
In addition she should have been made to do community service to holocaust survivors as well as watch a documentary
What’s really troublesome is the lack of anyone from the Jackson community speaking forward against the hate .
We have to also remember that although this girl’s actions are horrific, not all non-Jews feel this way about Jews.
