A man attempted to abduct a teenage girl in Lakewood this morning, the father tells TLS. Shortly before 8 a.m., the girl was standing on 14th Street when a pick-up truck came by and told the girl to get into the vehicle.
“A guy in a black pickup truck just drove up to my high-school aged daughter on the corner of 14th St and Pinemere Avenue and told her to “get in the truck”. She immediately ran home. She said he is white and about 25-30 years of age. Also, he’s either bald or has very very short hair.”
Police were immediately notified of the incident, and tell TLS they cannot comment yet pending further investigation.

Since Lakewood slumlords offer so many ‘for cash’ rental’s (without background checks), its easy for a prior predator to have a place of residence without notifying the local police and registering with the county as mandated by law. its easy for an illegal (who happens to be a runaway predator/murderer) to have a place to live in lakewood, thus being around our young children and women on a daily basis!

Its perrfectly legal to rent out a home. U live in an unrealistic utopia. Landlords are having a hard time as it is. Are lanlords required to monitor the tenants 2? Tenants are people and have responsibilties 2. Maybe he’s from tent city? Do they require background checks?

UNREALISTIC UTOPIA??? when i rented an apartment i went through a strict background check, credit check, reference check, and passed. was that unrealistic? not at all. it took a week at most – and all was good to go. that neighborhood gained with me living there.
when i rented a condo through a real estate agency, i had to go through a background check and they ran me through a public records background check. was that unrealistic? NOT AT ALL!!
AND YES, ALL LANDLORDS ARE REQUIRED TO MONITOR THE TENANTS. THEY ARE REQUIRED BY EITHER THE TOWNSHIP OR THE PRIVATE COMMUNITY TO DO SO- OTHERWISE FINES ARE ISSUES (if the tenant doesnt pay the fines, the landlord is forced to!)

The difference is that you play by the rules; therefore you are subject to the rules. Illegals do not play by the rules; therefore they are not subject to the rules. They will all get amnesty if the Republicans cave to Obama, and they will have gotten rewarded for breaking the laws of the land.
Legal law-abiding gun owners are subject to tighter and tighter gun laws, while criminals have free reign to own guns without any controls whatsoever. If they get caught, they do a small stint in jail and are immediately released to continue.
If you work hard and earn money and do not steal, you are subject to ever increasing taxes, regulations, inflation, higher and higher costs, and you cannot afford to feed your family. But if you do not work, you can relax, live on welfare, have all your expenses paid, free housing, free healthcare, food stamps, etc and you don’t have to pay any taxes on all these goodies!!
This is the world we live in today. You get punished for playing by the rules, and rewarded for flouting the rules. Thank your Democrats for bringing our country to its knees.

Why can’t the schools, both public and private, send home notes informing everyone that there are predators on the loose again? Also, the students need to be reminded of how to react if someone tries to harm them. Parents can do their part by waiting with/for their children, especially the younger ones, at the bus stop. If it’s not feasible for them to meet the bus every day then they can set up a rotation with the other parents whose kids use that stop. A little inconvenience is a small price to pay for the safety of our children.

i never said landlords are the ones to blame for someone elses crime. i simply state that slumlords are inviting criminals into lakewood, by giving criminals a safe heaven (by not doing background checks. by not checking credit history. by not asking for legal nj identification). if you allow a criminal to live in your house = THAT’S CALLED AIDING & ABETTING!!!! and clearly slumlords refuse to do background, because they know that no one with a clean record would live in the slums and unkempt homes these slumlords are renting out.
