Hundreds Of Bais Faiga Girls Pay Respect To 30 Year Lakewood Crossing Guard

PHOTOS & VIDEO [UPDATED 12:25 PM] Hundreds of Bais Faiga girls lined Courtney Avenue this morning to pay respect to 30 year Lakewood Crossing Guard Ella Mary Burdge. Mrs. Burdge, who passed away earlier this week, served as a Crossing Guard for many years on Forest Avenue and 6th Street, safely crossing thousands of girls.

She was 86.

Mrs. Burdge is also the mother of two Lakewood Police Officers, Officers Kenneth Burdge and Patricia Van de Zilver. Her husband Ensley Burdge, served as a Lakewood Detective many years ago.

Police escorted the hearse from D’lias Funeral Home to Magnolia Drive, where she lived, and then to the cemetery, via Courtney Avenue.

Attending the funeral were Mayor Menashe Miller, Police Chief Rob Lawson and many off-duty officers and Crossing Guards. TLS.

  1. 25 years ago we lived on that corner and she was the nicest person you could meet. It’s a tough corner and could get really crazy sometimes (even then) but she handled it all with professionalism and personal warmth. We will miss her. Our condolences to the family.
