PHOTOS & VIDEO [UPDATED 11:35 AM] Two people were just transported to the hospital after reportedly having their throats slashed at a party. The incident occurred at the American Legion on River Avenue at about 12AM.
Multiple officers and First Responders from Lakewood First Aid and EMS, responded to the scene.
The victims are being transported with Medics to Jersey Shore Medical Center in serious condition, Police say.
It’s unknown if the suspect is among those injured, but police have reportedly recovered the knife used in the attack.
About 20 minutes earlier, police responded to another stabbing on Cedarbridge Avenue, in what is believed to be a domestic dispute.

UPDATE 11:35 AM: According to eyewitness reports and from sources who are familiar with the situation, the attacker was a man who frequented the bar, and was stalking the victim – a woman who worked at the bar. The attacker had reportedly threatened the woman a week prior, but the threat was brushed off.
“The man who attacked her was a regular who frequented the bar”, Cassandra tells TLS. “At five to midnight last night, he waited until she was alone on the dance floor, came up behind her, put her in a chokehold then slit her throat”, the woman says. “Then as she laid bleeding on the floor, he went back to his seat and slit his own. Thank g-d people used a cold compress on her and she didn’t lose that much blood. She got a bunch of staples in her throat and will be ok. I don’t know about him”.

Not a surprise. People do not know have to have a disagreement any more without resorting to using weapons. And lets just keep on cutting the police department. As officers retire, they just don’t replace them. I feel sorry for the officers. (moderated).
This wasn’t just another dispute that led to a stabbing. This was an innocent lady targeted, and attacked with a premeditated plan. This man slit her throat and then slit his own throat in an attempt to commit suicide. No body saw this coming and it is a tragedy. Please pray for Diane, Post 166.

Rely to cap dan if lakewood had 1 million cops or would not have prevented this crime cops did show up very quickly but as is the case most of the time they investicate the crime not prevent it. If you want to prevent crime you put a gun I. The hands of as many ordinary law aboding citizens as possible. I agree DANCAP more cops on the road could have prevented this because if they were full staffed, those extra offiers could have drove by right when it was going to happen and it would have never happened. Its called the phontom affect larry. We need the amount of cops we had a few years ago at the least plus more. How come we dont have any in the academy now?

Diane is okay, well as ok as she can be. She is due to be released from the hospital today. Don’t know about her attacker though. It’s so surreal.

actually, the scoop recently reported that lakewood just hired a few more cops that were laid off (i think from jersey city)
To the people who say we need more cops – How would more cops have prevented this from occurring? Do you really think a cop would have been at that bar at that moment to stop the madman? The cops don’t go into places unless they are called. Therefore, they do not prevent crimes, they only investigate crimes AFTER they happen.
fyi – both Diane and her attacker (known to her) live in Brick not Lakewood, but were attending a function being held in Lakewood. So this in no way should imply that Lakewood is not safe. SO read the article, send wishes for Diane, but don’t bash Lakewood.
The new police officers are from Trenton- Not Jersey City. And there is one in the academy for the one that was asking..There is just no money to hire a lot of officers these days. If you hire them you have to pay them..that is why there are not many being hired. No towns have any money, nothing coming in. So when you complain about getting a summons remember that money doesnt stay local it goes to the state

Picture this ..the 20 people form a circle around the perp then one of them shoots then they all shoot, I would count 20 bodies as “ordinary law abiding citizens” shoot each other and other patrons in the bar. Guns are a bad thing if you don’t know how and when to use them and with your idea I don’t think you have any training in the use of hand guns.
This was all becuz she gave him the wrong idea about the two of them being together. He told people couple days prior that he was sharing his knives to slit her throat. I don’t know why no one did anything at that point! Both Diane and the man are alive. And everyone talkin about cops and guns, getting more cops wont make a difference as someone has said its not like they are waiting outside everyone’s house or work waiting for something to happen so they can prevent it. Now on the gun issue, if everyone carried there will be a plaxico accidental shooting one self lol or people won’t think they will just shoot whoever got them mad. There are crazy people in this world and there is nothing we can do about it. Just everyone be careful!

Lakewood resident I totally agree with you! And I am there often as well and I’ve never seen a business so full of drama! Everyone talks badly about everyone behind their backs! There is always something going on and it’s horrible that it take this to make people realize!! And everyone needs to realize that there are two sides to every story!!!
I’m with ya Prayers. However, there are three sides to every story. It usually goes something like this.. His Side, Her Side and the truth.
The place is full of drama, but some folks just can’t live without it. It is not a bad place, and this incident does not make it a bad place. Can’t close a place down because of an isolated incident. If that was the case, the entire town of Lakewood would be closed.
The place has been tryin to get bought out for a long time now and needs to be sold. with the way that business is ran is very very unprofessional! And yes there are 3 sides but everyone is only listening to her side… Maybe his side needs to come out like why he did this… I think you all will be shocked!! I’m not saying she deserved it.
