FIRST REPORT: [PHOTOS & VIDEO] [UPDATED 12:50 PM] Multiple Police officers responded to Kimball Medical Center moments ago after they received a call that a woman was brought in with multiple gunshot wounds, sources tell TLS.
Upon arrival, police found the shooting victim, brought into the Hospital by three friends.
The Detectives Bureau was notified and are responding to the scene where the incident ocurred, which is reported to be at Center Street between Martin Luthin King Drive and Ashley Avenue.
More details will be posted when available.

UPDATE: The woman was flown to Jersey Shore Medical Center in serious condition.
Ocean County Sheriffs and Prosecutor’s Office are investigating.
It’s unknown at this time if the incident is gang-related.

All I have to say is I lived in this town my whole life and although it is a sad thaught to have to leave my hometown it is def in my plans for the near future. Like many thaughts I’m hearing here and elsewhere there is a very bleak and dangerous future potentially awaiting this town, while there are def good and bad people everwhere the main “players” who are involved in running and forming the future of this town play off the people like they care for the wellbeing of the majority when in reality they all have a personal agenda that they are trying to fill (whether money or political gain for future) and the sad thaught is they are doing irreversable damagefor the future of lakewood. Now while all this is going on the masses just abide and don’t realize the terrible fate that this town seems to be heading towards. There is major upheavel going on in the world around us but here people are oblivious to it and think oh what neighborhood is being built up next or which school will I send my child too? … now you tell me thats something to love about lakewood. Tell me how many people have worked their whole lives and purchased a home in lakewood, to end up living next door to some criminal renters that not only pose a dangerous living condition for neighbors, but also cause those hard earned homes to drop in value. For those living in your secular neighborhoods- you have nothing to worry aside from when you exit your realm. for all others = its less than a pleasant place to live.
I have been here all my life, so make that 60+ years. And things have never been this bad, congestion, traffic lights on every corner, it takes 35+ minutes to get across town. The crime is much worse, (except during the race riots). I never used to lock my doors, now I won’t go to the mailbox without locking my door. Cops being shot and killed, kids running loose, getting lost, not being watched. There is no where to shop in lakewood that I can afford, I have to go to Brick or TR. I remember a quiter, gentler Lakewood. This mega town is out of control, I said it before and I’ll say it again…this town is out of control. Thank you past township committes and school boards for selling it down the river. Thank you current township committee for keeping the ball rolling, in the wrong direction. Runaway growth…and it keeps growing without checks. And thank you, I am getting out just as soon as I can sell my home.

I went to Lakewood and my parents and my one friends parents were the only ones who went to PTA meetings. As a result, hasidics now run our school-board when there is not on hasidic in the entire Lakewood public school system. A town is a reflection of the residents in it. Go to council meetings people, know your towns politics, go out and vote. No one does and then everyone wants to complain. As I said before, no parents even show at PTA meetings. What does that tell you?

The smart people dont want to live in a town with with traffic conjestion, lawns full of toys and garbage, slum lords and drivers that constantly cause accidents. If the people moving into town weren’t Orthodox, I doubt people would look at the out-of-control growth of this town as anything but “out-of-control” growth. Such is the way of t he world. The world population is growing, America is growing by leaps and bounds, and cities around the world are growing at exponential rates.
Theses are good signs. The fact that certain areas were considered prime areas would always make area residents proud. Remember when Lakewood was all farmland back in the 1800’s? Do you think the residents in Lakewood were happy when more people began moving to Lakewood in the early 1900’s? Do you think Lakewood residents were happy when people like Mr Conservative moved to Lakewood back in the 1960’s and built houses on farmland?
They were probably a little annoyed that the traffic was getting worse, that they built Rt 9 through the once beautiful quiet town. They were probably a little annoyed that so many trees were being cut down to build neighborhoods like Raintree and Hearthstone and Chestnut and New England Village. They were probably annoyed that Georgian Court College came to town with all the college kids.
They were probably annoyed, but they accepted it, because everyone knew the country was growing and such was the way of the world.
And now, as Lakewood continues to attract young people from all over the tri state area, it is with pride that us long-time Lakwood residents see our beautiful town become a beautiful city. Just as all the great cities in America were once quiet towns, but then became large cities, so too our beautiful town of Lakewood is so beautiful that everyone wants to move here, and thus we are becoming a beautiful vibrant city, with lots of jobs and opportunities for all who want.
But wait. There is something wrong with this picture. If the people moving in were regular run-of-the-mill white people, like all the other cities in America, then we would agree that everything is ok. But the people moving in to Lakewood are Orthodox. With a sinister “master plan”. So now we must try to stop the growth of this town into a city, because it is the Orthodox that are moving in.
Mr. Conservative, I am not one to look for anti-Semitism at every corner. But your comments are so blatant in its hatred for Orthodox, that I cannot keep quiet.
You would not say this about any other minority or majority. I am homeless with my family living and every time i call a number from either the paper or this sight about an apartment because I am not orthodox I am told its not available anymore. And the next day or even for a week or a month after I call about it, it’s still in the paper for rent. I can’t say much about the ads on this sight still being up as places for rent because I don’t think they update that section as much.

You don’t know what you are talking about! The exploding growth is from the Orthodox community. Years ago the non Orthodox families would 2 maybe 3 children, now the Orthodox families have 6 and more children(your choice) but do the math each family has 6 then the 6 each have 6, this is the reason for the growth in lakewood, plain and simple. The master plans for this town were abandoned for the sake of housing all the new people and for profits that could be made. If the Orthodox moved out, look at all the properties that are off the tax rolls for Religious reasons being put back on the tax rolls, the industrial park would be open for business and not schools. None of this is going to happen, so what do we do? We get along and stop pointing fingers and fix the problems, the town is what it is and it is not going back to any past existence.

So the rest of the people in this town who are not Orthodox would have to pay the $50,000,000 plus school taxes to pay for the schools who will educate all the illegal alien children.
Yes, some 500 out of 15,000 properties would go back onto the tax rolls, but all the taxpayers would be gone.
(And Georgian Court College would still be off the tax rolls even after all the Orthodox all drop dead)

Some people need to do some thoughtful conversations with their elders before comparing someone to the Nazis or accusing someone of being one. Being part of one of Lakewood’s oldest resident families,my father in law hit the beaches of France on 6/6/1944 and ended the war deep inside the former Third Reich. Of all the war stories he told he said nothing about the two camps he helped liberate until after his death I found his journal he kept and about 100 pictures he took as his company’s historian. Believe me, people never, ever should compare someone’s master plan to the evil, inhumane one Hitler and his henchmen had.

He(he was probably in his mid 60’s) turns to me and says ” I assume you’re from Lakewood, correct?” I said, yes. He tells me, “years ago we were afraid to even drive through parts of Lakewood”(I think he mentioned Park Ave). He said “you people cleaned up Lakewood and turned it into a beautiful town”. I think my point is quite clear.
In the 1970’s, it was dangerous to walk past CLIFTON AVE. Lexington, Monmouth, Princeton, Park, Ridge, these were crime-infested areas.
Today they are children-infested with beautiful young and growing families..
And traffic.
