New Utilities Liaison Committee Formed

nj_american_water_tlsAs dozens of complaints are continuously filed against the utility companies serving local residents, Mayor Menashe Miller introduced the idea to the Committee of forming a utilities liaison committee. The committee, which will be formed of chosen members as well as representatives from the utility companies, will serve as liaison for customers having issues with utility companies.

“It was very good thinking by the Mayor, it’s a great idea” Committeeman Isaac Akerman tells TLS, “A lot of complaints come in about the utilities, and it’s great to have a direct connection with them”.

The Township Committee unanimously approved the idea, and hopes to form the committee within the next few weeks.

The committee will meet once a month.

  1. Can somebody please explain, if and how, it is yet possible use another competing water company in the Lakewood area?

If yes, is it relevant for all areas of Lakewood?

  2. Years ago , lakewood township sold the water rights to njawse. Butkept part of it for themselves. That’s why lakewood has two water co. FYI. Njaw does have offices on James street just not open to the public. This must change.

  3. Mr. Mayor,

It’s not enough to have a customer liason. We want a water company that’s honest and fair. Getting back my money for mysterious fees would be nice too!

  4. you cannot use well water if your home (except for lawn sprinkler system) if you have city water from either the MUA or NJAWco.

  5. According to the 2010 annual 10-K report of the American Water Company, revenues generated by New jersey customers represented 25% of the total revenues of the American Water Company, while its customer base in New Jersey was only 20% of all its customers in the U.S.

I’d like an explanation for this discrepancy. Do the people in New Jersey use more than any other state? Do New Jersesyians bathe more frequently than other Americans? Is their laundry any cleaner?

Or does the American Water Company think that people in New Jersey are too dumb to able to read a 10-K report, and figure out that they have been had?

I wonder if this new committee will actual ask substantive questions, or will they just enjoy an amiable cup of coffee once a month.
