Negba Bus Service Disqualified As Vendor For Lakewood Children For The Next 3 School Years – 2 More Vendors Approved As Title 1 Vendors

negbaAmong some of the motions approved at last night’s Board of Education meeting, were that the Negba Bus company has been disqualified as a bidder on Lakewood contracts and will not be busing any Lakewood children for the next 3 school years. The decision comes after the board says Negba failed to prove that they were capable of handling the awarded contracts, leaving parents with unsettled routes months into the school year.

The disqualification however is only for 3 years, after which he would be permitted to vote in contracts again.

The decision by the board, could be appealed to the Department of Education.

Also approved last night, were as follows:

2) Educational Excellence and Learn It Systems have been approved to provide Title 1 as well as 192 and 193 in addition to TOK and Catapult.

3) Non Public schools were told that should they desire they may request busing for legal holidays for the next school year as per state law. These days must be included in their school calendar when given to the Transportation Department. Busing is provided for a maximum of 180 days per year. This motion was made by Board member Yoni Silver.

4) An announcement was made by Mr. Seitler and Mr. Inzelbuch notifying all parents who are currently involved in litigation regarding their placement in Special Education programs that they or their lawyer may offer a settlement proposal for the Board to review at the next meeting so that the children can all be placed for the coming school year.

And finally, Mr. Gus – urged by Yoni Silver – assured the Board – that he will make his utmost effort to keep all bus routes to under 45 minutes even though the limit was raised to 60 min. TLS.

  1. to #1 and who was the posek who said it was ok to leave little children stranded at their bus stop in the winter for 45 min after arrival time?

  2. Does this mean Negba can keep their old routes but cant bid on new routes. Or will they not be driving at all in lkwd next year?? Can someone please clarify?

  3. my negba driver has been safe reliable and responsable as oppsed to my STA bus that has dropped my kids off 3 blocks from the stop because it was running late and has made k turns in middle of the the street. or my childrens friday klarr bus who preaches anti torah..

  4. #1, We are not all bad, but just like everywhere they are good and bad driver’s. And when the BOE says there is a delay either because of snow, ice, for what ever reason we have to abid by what they say, so if they say 90 minute delay it means just that, I will be picking up everybody’s children 90 minutes later than normal, but if the schools and or parents do not wish to wait for whatever reason, please do not blame the driver it is not our fault, blame the BOE!

  5. What a shame!!!!! Sounds like some of us are more excited about a jew losing his business because of other jews agenda than the killing of bin laden!!!!!!!!

  6. What about the Good People who ride on these bus’s daily and take care of our kids ? The Aids on these Bus’s are the ones who see our children home safe The Shouldn’t have to loose there Jobs . They have our B.rukh

  7. Negba Bus company has been disqualified as a bidder on Lakewood contracts and will not be busing ANY Lakewood children for the next 3 school years.

  8. This is truly an unfortunate situation. I am sorry that it came to this. AR has done great things for the children of Lakewood (even if you don’t know about it) and to loose his parnassa is very sad.

Are you sure your STA bus driver dropped them off 3 blocks away because it was running late and not because thats their OFFICIAL stop. Some drivers are nice or think they are being nice and “adjust” stops to help a parent or student out, maybe this is the case and they were in fact running late and dropped your child off at the OFFICIAL stop to make up for time. In my opinion the student should walk 3 blocks to get the bus, it would limit the number of stops cutting down the route time and the traffic. As far as a K-turn in the middle of the street I find that hard to believe but if its so then contact STA and it will be looked into and if its determined it is unsafe and unnecessary the driver will be instructed to correct it. I can tell you STA and our drivers really try hard to provide safe and reliable transportation to and from school and if we can do a better job we try to make it so.

  10. why must we always comment, especially when it comes to someone else’s parnassah. Unfortunately whether warranted or not, this person has lost a significant portion of his parnassa however why must we express our glee at someone else’s misfortune?! You are a bunch of armchair critics that would be in tears if something like this happened to you. so at the very least feel stop for a moment and feel someone else’s pain.

  11. There seems to be a fundamental disconnect in some of these comments. The responsibility of the BOE is to provide the best service at the lowest cost to the taxpayer… it is NOT to provide anyone (OT’s or PT’s etc) with a Parnassah. This is a government agency (local in this case) not a Yeshiva or Tzedaka! Good intentions (and I have not doubt that they are) are not enough, it is about PERFORMANCE and COST…. plain and simple.

  12. to estee says (#2):

I don’t understand. If you wish to change the grocery store that you patronize, because you feel you have received poor service, do you consult with a posek? Do you ask a posek whether to buy J & J cream Cheese or Mehadrin cream cheese?

  13. I must say I agree with the previous submission. My children ride on one bus service in and another bus service out. Central Bus Service brings my children in and STA brings them home. I must say that Central Bus Service is consistant with time and adheres to the route. Also, my neighbor commented about how well Central Bus Service is doing with her children’s route. Apparently Negba lost some routes in March and Central Bus Service took it over. He has no complaints about the service and neither do I. Go Central Bus Service!

  14. to # 14 — it`s not a yid shutting down another yid, it`s the (public) school board shutting down a bussing company !!!!~~! stop looking into things that are not there.

  15. negba realy has not had issues after they fixed everything up in jan. also #16 my STA driver was told to switch my stop by the BOE and one of your drivers decided he doesnt want to…..let 2nd and 3rd graders off a few blocks from home- at rt 9 without notifying any adults…

  16. Do you ask a shaila if Mehadrin is on sale that week if you can buy it? As J and J will lose out from your business and affect the parnassah for J and J!

  17. Reb Shlome Mileer says he was never consolted and would not issue any psak onless he heard both sides.give our gEDOLIM A LITTLE MORE CREDIT

  18. the other companies are just as bad yet no one has info how to contact the authorities regarding their bad practices. They put out all the info to call the boe specifically hurt Negba. Also did something new happen since the winter which changed everything again?

  19. how will the bus drivers and catapult teachers feed their families? all so we can save a couple of dollars on our property taxes! we are losing our empathy for fellow jews.tragic.

  20. Someone told me they had a similar story with R Moshe about closing down a yid who had a government contract, and Reb Moshe said that before ever causing a jew to lose money be it warranted or unwarrented YOU NEED TO FAST 40 DAYS AND NIGHTS and DAVEN TO HASHEM THAT YOU ARE MAKING THE RIGHT DECISION. Did The BOE (LAC) even consult with 1 Gadol before leaving a man in ruins!!!!! Who takes responsibilty for these actions! We have left a yid out to dry and we all are asid liten din v cheshbon.

  21. I can’t understand what people are thinking
The BOE didn’t look to do this. Not just that ,they gave the company numerous chances to get his act together. This had nothing to do with taxes, instead of getting on the BOE.

  22. To number #11 and all others who don’t know what life is about yet…
:”What a shame!!!!! Sounds like some of us are more excited about a Jew losing his business because of other Jews agenda than the killing of bin laden!!!!!!!!”

    >>You are missing the boat!! If a service is not provided then you move on. If you were any were else in the world you would be out in a second, People are afraid to talk when it’s a frum company on the line. The reason people are satisfied with this decision is because someone finally got up and stood up for what was right!! OBVIASLY WITH ASKING A SHILA

  23. folks, you are fools if you didn’t think the BOE tried to help the situation. Negba did this to themselves. The parents of the children made this happen.

I happen to know the issue you are talking about and unfortunately its not an easy fix but it is trying to be worked out. The problem is the safety of the students walking from RT 9 to their homes and the safety of both the students and the bus if the driver goes down that street into that development. Unfortunately developments in Lakewood are not built with parking and busing in mind and the driver has had several close calls trying to maneuver the bus safely around the parked cars without hitting anything. For a time the residents cooperated and adjusted the parking but then went back to parking in a way that makes it dangerous for the bus and the students to enter. The company, the BOE and the residents from what I’m told are working on a solution. In the interest of safety and avoiding bus accidents I ask you be patient while a reasonable solution can be found.

  25. i think it is sad that alot of people are happy. with out lake wood runs my pay gets cut and my bills get behind. i love working for negba. my parents like me cause i take care of my kids. i go out of my way for them when im not suppose to. so shame on all who are happy about this situation. start looking at the other bus companys in lakewood. they drive fast in your devlopments i see it every day

  26. The BOE does not have to FAST 40 DAYS AND NIGHTS and DAVEN TO HASHEM to make a business decision. Nor do they have to consult a Gadol to remove a non compliant vendor. Negba should take the full responsibility for having this company removed from Lakewood. Oh BTW, he is not in ruins, as he is presently bidding on several big contracts around the area. Check your facts!!

  27. negba really improved-and has been doing a great jopb. why wasnt this vote publicized so ppl can come and express what they feel now- like the boe did in jan.

  28. # 39
now that the rt was almost taken away, we do appreiciate that u are working with us. but the facts are- there r no cars parked there ever. its our childrens lives at risk…

  29. #26

For your information, Mehadrin bought out the J & J company at least 15 years ago, so they really don’t care if you buy Mehadrin or J & J. Just stay away from morning select!

  30. My negba bus is the only one that comes on time,My sons takes murphy&klarr and they are never on time. Not fair what happen to negba

  31. ok folks. The issue is simple. If a company cannot do a job, the can’t do a job. IAfter all the effort and frustration they still couldn’t get their act together. That being said, Hashem decided they were done and used the Boe to accomplish this. If you doubt what I am saying see the Chovos Halovavos in shaar habitochon. That being said, concerning the reported story about Reb Moshe ZTL. Once it has been verfied through witnesses and not the olam golem, one needs to go to an odom gadol with the masseh and determine if the situation is similar or not. There are many people in Lakewood that lost their job. We need to feel bad and be there for all of them, not just the high profile chevra. please don’t moderate this comment out.

  32. why didnt they publicize that they are voting on this. most ppl are happy with negba now. everything was fixed up. this is not yashrus- who had a private agenda to get negba out?

  33. It is a shame that this is happening in this manner. It was never the goal of the drivers or our boss to have problems this year. It seams from reading these comments that only the negative aspect of this company is in view here. The positive aspect is here in writing from the parents of those whose children we drive to and from school everyday. Not one bus company is without issue in Lakewood. I will tell you this though……it was the Negba buses bringing your children into these developments on Rt. 9 long before the parents had to fight for thier childrens safety. What does that tell you? And we very likely could have gotten into a lot of hot water for it! As well as the company-it was done for the kids-for safety. And without complaint. Also the majority of us pick up and drop off the children as close to home as possible. The list can go on and on in regards to some of the major differences you can plainly see. #40 relax your still a bus driver. There is always work for responsible caring human being especially in this profession. You are clearly an positive example for this profession and will be appreciated wherever you go. Chin up.

  34. THE TRUTH IS THAT WE HAVE A LOT OF FOLKS THAT HAVE WHAT I CALL BLIND SUPPORT.IT SEEMS THAT SOME IN THIS TOWN CAN DO NO WRONG EVEN IF THEY CAUSE THE LIFE OF ANOTHER HUMAN BEING. THE BOARD OF EDUCATION DECIDED THAT NEGBA WAS NOT ABLE TO GET THEIR COMPANY IN ORDER. THIS IS AFTER THEY WERE GIVEN A CHANCE TO CLEAN UP AND ACT RESPONSIBLE .
THEY CONTINUE TO BEHAVE IN A IRRESPONSIBLE MANNER. THIS IS WHAT CAUSED THE B.O.E TO TAKE THEM OFF THE LIST OF VENDORS. THEIR ARE THOSE HOWEVER WHO THINKS THAT IT’S OKAY TO BEHAVE WITHOUT REGARDS TO ANYONE ELSE , THEY HAVE BLIND SUPPORT.

THIS TYPE OF SUPPORT IS SCARY. WHEN YOUR WRONG YOUR WRONG AND YOU MUST DEAL WITH THE RESULTS OF YOUR ACTION. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHO YOU ARE.

THIS IS HOW CIVILIZE SOCIETY ACTS :
WE MAKE LAWS TO ENRICH AND PROTECT OUR LIVES!
ANYONE WHO WILL OFFER EXCUSES TO IRRATIC BEHAVIOR IS DANGEROUS.

  35. The term of Silver is over next April and and Seitler the year after.I hope they both run for reelection they are both doing a great job !
