Looking To Get Rid Of Clothing Or Other Items Before Pesach?

clothingUPDATED: Don’t throw out ‘useless’ clothing or that high-chair just yet. While you clean your home for Pesach and come across some slightly worn clothing which you won’t be using again, there are plenty others who can benefit from those items.

Deja New, a non-profit organization open all year round, will accept all women’s and children’s clothing which are in good condition and are current styles. The clothing is then set up at a shop for all to come and shop. The proceeds are then donated to Tzedakah.

They are located at 66 Birch Street and open Sunday-Thursday 9:00 a.m.-6:30 p.m, Friday 9-2, and Tuesday evenings from 9-9:30 p.m.

They also have a separate collection for merchandise which collects all usable items such as high-chairs, dishes, kitchen ware, stuffed animals and more. For more information, call 732-905-9329.

To date, the organization has raised over $30,000 for Tzedakah.

Also, open now until Pesach, is The Center, located at 7th and Monmouth Avenue, which accepts all shoes, linens, stuffed animals and clothing in all conditions.

UPDATE: Deja New is not a shop for the needy, but rather a shop open to all. The proceeds of the items sold, are donated to Tzedakah.

  1. My wife likes shopping @ DejaNew for years now. Bargains there. We were surprised to learn that no one makes a dime on it. they give the $ to tzedaka, too. its just amazing.

  2. This time of the year they are swamped with donated clothing. They have volunteers working almost around the clock sorting and hanging the clothes. They have run out of space!

  3. DejaNew doesn’t sell by the pound. New and like-new items are hung on racks for sale. Items that wont sell are picked up by one of these ‘by-the-pound’ oufits and hauled away.

  4. I have mens clothing in good condition that i’m looking to give away. If anyone knows of an org. that’ll use/give the clothing (not sell it as rags) and won’t charge me $15 a bag to ship to e”y, please post. Thanx

  5. This G’mach is not for the needy. It is for anyone and everyone. There is no tzekaha involved, as the clothing donations are free and all proceeds go to tzedakah. So really, customers are actually giving tzedaka when they purchase clothing. If you come to our store you will see that everyone and anyone shops there.

  6. Can anyone list the complete address for The Center as well as specific store hours or instructions for drop off that they may have? Thank you

  7. To #6- Moshe: The Special Childrens Center currently has a trailer parked on the corner of Monmouth & 7th for drop off of clothing, shoes, etc in good condition. Don’t know anything about the program other than it helps the Special Childrens Center, but I assume if they’re asking for good condition clothing then they probably don’t sell as rags.

  8. You are all confused! The Special Children’s Center accepts clothing, shoes, linen, clothing in ANY condition untill pesach (7th and Monmouth). Deja Nu accepts clothing in GOOD condition ONLY all year (Birch Street).
Tizku L’Mitzvos and Thank You for supporting local tzedaka

  9. I dropped off some stuff at Deja New this week and the volunteer that was there said that they have too much stuff before Pesach. She really only wanted to accept the stuff that would be usable for this season (spring/summer), but since it wasn’t sorted that way, she ended up taking it all(Thank you!). Point is, maybe call and check with them first if they are accepting clothing donations at this time of year.
