[Reader Submitted] Hello,
I am not sure if you plan to do a story on the serious accident that happened today between a large truck and a Nissan Maxima being driven by a woman with a small child in the back seat. This was at the corner of New Hampshire Avenue and Oberlin Road today (Friday, Feb 25) at about 12:30 PM. I guess a terrible accident is nothing that new in Lakewood unfortunately however I was one of 4 or 5 people who saw the immediate aftermath of the accident.
I did not see the accident, but I arrived in time to see the young woman involved get out of her car, clearly dazed and in shock, and walk directly into oncoming traffic on New Hampshire. A man rushed across New Hampshire, nearly getting killed himself in the process, and pulled her to safety on the side of the road. He very nearly may have saved her life.
I did not ask for the name of this man unfortunately but he told me he worked for the Lakewood MUA and was wearing an MUA jacket.
Anyway, I just figured Id write since it’s not often that something good can come out of something bad like this but thank God for this intervention.
Thank you,
Dawes
Very nice!
Looks like a chevy cavalier, not a nissan maxima.
so nice to hear. job well done on saving her. very lucky woman
How great to finally read a feel-good story about one person helping, not hurting, another 🙂 Bravo!!
hope everyone is OK ! yes it is good to hear that there are some people who do care and are willng to help in a time of need
wow
many an accident would be prevented if they put up “no right turn on red’ signs on both pine and oberlin. Cars turn onto new hampshire right in front of cars doing 55-65 mph, which is how most of these accidents occur at this intersection.
It Would Be Nice If The M U A Worker Would Identify Himself So That We May Thank Him Properly
employee of the month!
What is the MUA???
when will we learn how to drive is the real question
MUA is the Lakewood Township Municipal Utilities Authority. Bob Singer is the Chairman of the Board and P.G. Waxman is the Vice Chair of the Board.
To Mr. Conservative:
Please review the posted photo again. It’s a Nissan Maxima, not a Chevy Cavalier.
To the MUA member:
What you did was absolutely remarkable. Your selfless deeds give comfort in knowing that there are still decent amazing people out there. Thank you for your kindness!
To the Author:
For you to take the time out to praise this person for their heroic actions, was very admirable. You show much consideration for your fellow man.
Walking away from this experience with so much optimism is a rare quality in a person.
Thank you TLS for posting such a heartfelt and hopeful article.
