Two Vehicles, Many Items Stolen In Separate Home Burglaries While Homeowners Slept

burglarTwo vehicles were stolen and many items were stolen in two separate home burglaries where the homeowners remained asleep, Detective Lieutenant Paul Daly tells TLS. The incidents occurred early yesterday morning on Dena Court and on Cabinfield Circle, when the rear window screens of the basement apartments were cut and entry was made through the – apparently unlocked – windows, Daly said.

Without indicating which items were taken from which homes, Daly says the stolen items included cameras, jewelry, cordless phones, a microwave and other items.

The brazen thief – who police have reason to believe is the same suspect in both incidents – then walked out the front door and stole the homeowner’s vehicle, Daly said.

Both incidents ocurred between the hours of 2-6 a.m.

No vehicles were recovered.

In another incident Daly says, a resident on Gefen Street woke up to the banging on his rear basement window at approximately 2:30 a.m., and when the resident got up to investigate, the perpetrator fled.

The resident tells police, he spotted a black man running from his home.

  1. i was on the victims of these robberies. we have gotten no info from the police dept and have no clue that ppl think that it was a black man. we found out more info from the Lakewood scoop than we received when i called the lakewood police dept this monrning. we were robbed of everything including our car, laptop, cell phone, gps, camera and many other items. we did lock our windows, but the robber pushed out the window out of the frame and that is how he entered our house. he even came into our room while we were sleeping and we slept through the whole thing. that is the scariest part of the whole incident. also, PLEASE GET RENTER’S INSURANCE. its so cheap and now hopefully we will be covered for everything that was stolen. its over 3000 worth of items not including our car. its so cheap and it will save you so much agmas nefesh in case this ever happens again.

  2. If the thief is reading this: Know that I live on cabinfield circle and I am locked and loaded. If you enter my bed room I WILL blow your brains out!

  3. YOU MUST CALL THE POLICE AT ALL TIMES – EVEN IF YOU SCARE HIM OFF- HE WILL STRIKE SOMEWERE ELSE IN THE AREA WITH IN A FEW MINUTES. WE HAVE SEEN IT MANY TIMES> ESPECIALY in the DINA SHOSHANA RIDGE AREA

IF ITS SHABBOS PLEASE TRY TO FLAG DOWN A POLICE OFFICER- THE PERPS WILL STRIKE SOMEONE ELSE> THE SOONER THE POLICE NOW OF SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY THE FASTER THEY CAN CATCH THE CRMINAL BEFORE THEY STRIKE AGAIN>AND DONT THINK THEY WILL NOT HURT SOMEONE IF THEY ARE CAUGHT IN THE ACT>

  4. the story on gefen dr, happened to me,
HE TRIED TO BREAK INTO THE KITCHEN-PORCH WINDOW,BY BREAKING THE GLASS, BUT ONLY SUCCEEDED IN BREAKING THE FIRST PANE OF GLASS,BEFORE WE HEARD HIM,AND THEN HE RAN OFF ,B’H

  5. if you do not report to the police ,don’t even bother to try and collect from insurance ~ they will not cover it unless there is a police report!!

  6. Anyone know where to get better locks for sliding (up and down) windows – standard basement windows and kitchen double hung windows? I was told the locks that come on them maynot be secure.

Also, to #2, does the wireless system you mention go on windows too or just doors?

  7. please remove this article about the Black man robbing houses. It hurts our feelings to have such things written about us. You wouldn’t write it if was a Yid robbing the house. Would you?

  8. #1 (police dept and have no clue that ppl think that it was a black man.)
If you were sleep, then why is it you THINK it was a black man? sound racist to me.

  9. this is the second such robbery in the dena shoshana ridge nega area in the past few weeks.

The first time the criminal tried several homes and even lifted the basement window well grates to try to get in.

if you see any attempt -call the police asap.

  10. Gee, here I am thinking I’m lucky, all someone stole from me is untraceable cash, and lots of it. Even my camera and cell phone were on the counter in plain sight, but all this guy wanted was the cash. It could have been worse, he could have taken the car too (the car keys were hanging right in view also). Can’t the police (as few as they may be) find the stolen vehicle? It shouldn’t be that hard.

  11. Can TLS please post a (signed) Rabbinc authority on when its OK to call Police on Shabbos 911 LPD 732-363-0200 or LCSW Lakewood Civilian Safety Watch 732-367-1212

  12. targets are these big newer homes with basement windows designed for people who dwell underground so they can get out in case of a fire. so it makes an easy entry to get in, whether locked or not. yes while locks are good, alarms and lights are better. keeping valuables out of sight helps also. unlocked cars and dimly light neighbor hoods are easy prey. so many workers coming and going all over make it hard to know who is good and bad.
FYI – whites and hispanics and religious people steal too. FACT.
ALSO these are Burglaries NOT ROBBERIES. Stop misquoting already.
And call the police anytime 24/7 when you have someone inside your home or stealing your possessions, and maybe you won’t be such easy targets.

    Thanks

    ===================================================
Theres a fella that advertises in the masa and lakewood weekly classifieds who installs window locks which work great .

  14. Here is a good one: Get those thick wooden dowels they sell at Home Depot, cut to size and prop them on the double hung window so that it is impossible for it to slide up. It is visible enough to discourage the thief from prying the window open. This can also be used for sliding doors. For doors in the remote part of the house, I purchased two metal U-shaped handles and secured them to the posts. Then slide a 2 X 4 plank of wood there.

  15. to #11 how many yids do you see running around robbing houses????
how many yids do you see mugging each other????? how many yids do you see selling crack????? how many yids do you see shooting each other????, like the head of the NYC taxi union said monday “may be we should start profiling” , after another taxi driver was shot.he also said that “99% of taxi driver assaults were from the black and hispanic communities”. so if the shoe fits!!!

  16. #22 What dream world are you living in? Just because it’s not reported here or in the paper, do you think no one knows about it? Get real, the rest of the town is not as deaf, dumb and blind as you think.

  17. And here it is, you don’t like what I said so you deleted it! So much for it being reported in the Scoop!!! Censord, censored, censored!!! You might not report what we say, but it doesn’t mean we don’t know about it. Fools!!
