Rash Of Burglaries Targets Flat Screens And Laptops

lpd medPolice responded to multiple home burglaries over the weekend, and the items of interest are flatscreen televisions and laptop computers, Detective Lieutenant Paul Daly tells TLS. Break-ins occurred in Woodlake Manor, Brookhill Estates, Coventry Square and other areas, and were mostly through forced entry, and mostly during the day time, Daly says.

However, some of the burglaries were made through unlocked doors.

“They go more unnoticed if they don’t need to make noise”, says Daly.

Detectives are trying to figure out the pattern and where these items are going says Daly, because “these aren’t items which you just stick in your pocket”.

Other items stolen included electronics, jewelry and cash. TLS-CCP.

  1. OK I have to ask this who in their right mind that lives in Lakewood would leave doors unlocked ??? Why not just put up a sign saying to thieves come on in and take what you need ~ no sypathy for those who are mindless enough to not lock up

  2. the thieves are not stealing leichters and bechers because what are they doing with them, bringing them to the local silver store here to be melted for cash, would be obvious that they were stolen if they walk in with a religious item…so they aim for the laptops and flat screens!

  3. to #3 – It says most were by forced entry, not unlocked doors. I personally keep my back door unlocked when I am home for my and my children’s convenience. I only lock it when I go out.

then this does not apply to you ,but it does also say some were homes that were left unlocked thats my point !!!

  5. My work lap top and all of my jewelry were stolen a year ago. The thief studied my comings and goings and waited until late afternoon when he/she knew I would be out to break into the locked kitchen window. Don’t kid yourselves — these are professional jobs and happen all the time. Judaica is too obvious and there’s no after-market. Lap tops have great resale value on the black market.
