PHOTOS & VIDEO: This afternoon, the PBA Local 71 – joined by Committeeman Meir Lichtenstien – set out with two crews to battle the graffiti markings, in their second ‘Paint The Town’ project. Over a dozen off-duty Police Officers and their families (and the PBA puppy, Diesel) drove around several
hard-hit areas of town and painted over the defaced properties, in an effort to combat the gang-related graffiti problem in town.
“I want to thank Gary Przewoznik, President of the PBA and all the officers and their family members for coming out today on their time off, to show that the town means a lot to them” said Committeeman and Police Liaison Meir Lichtenstien, who participated in the painting together with his son.
Some of the cleaned up areas included Joe Parker, Ridge Avenue, Nolan Avenue – including the Church – and other areas.

I had a great time painting. I met some very dedicated thoughtful officers that go the extra mile for the community they serve. Yes it would be great if everyone that is able to would join in and help rid our town of this annoyance. Better yet, why not take it upon ourselves to remove the graffiti as soon as possible. The “artists” will get discouraged if it is removed immediately. Thank you Meir Lichtenstein for helping in this matter.
for the record: even though I criticese this extensively as not being enough to truly combat the problem, i would like to note taht it is a nice gestreu and the officers as well as meir L who aprticiapte in this are really doing a very kind thing which is motivated by a good desire. That said, our law enforcement professionals need to truly uproot this problem, and if they cant, the county and state should be notified taht there is a probelm here which goes beyond the capabilities of the local forces.
