PHOTO: A family celebrated the Bris of their son this morning, without the Bris. Last Sunday, a baby was born to a Lakewood couple two minutes after Shkiah. The father’s Rav, as well as another Rav Paskened, that if the baby was not yellow, the Bris should take place on the following Sunday, today. However, a last minute early morning phone call by a relative of the Ba’al Simcha to Hagaon Rav Shlomo Miller Shlita, changed everything.
Harav Miller Shlita Paskened that the Bris should not take place on Sunday, but rather Monday morning.
Family and friends were unaware of the P’sak and showed up at the Bris this morning, only to find out that it would be the next morning.
But a full Seudah was held nevertheless.
At the Seudah, Harav Shaul Simcha Friedman Shlita – the Rav of Brooklhill’s S’fard Minyan – got up and said how the Seudah was still considered a Seudas Mitzvah, because a Yid’s actions are based on his intentions, and the since the intentions of the Seudah were for a Bris, the Seudah remained a Seudas Mitzvah. He added, that he is sure that in Shamayim they are talking about this special Seudah. TLS-CCP.
nice
What needs to be explained, is if they asked a shaila and received a psak to make the bris on Sunday then how could they ask another Shaila and min hadin they are mechuyav to listen to the original psak.
HOPE THE FOOD WAS WORTH GOING FOR
Leftovers on Monday?
don’t believe everything you read a big part of this article is not true. the psak was to do the bris on monday.
to 2. There is no din that you have to accept a pesak. If a rov paskened on a chaticha its different. This was a halacha questioo of whats the din.
I was at the Drasha of Horav Friedman. He was unbelievable!! Lucky is the person who davens in his shul! A Peh Mapik Margolis!!!!
This is not an original first timer in Lakewood. Aprnox 8 years ago it happened on a Shabbos Bris to a very prominent Askin and a Rov
From the sound of it, it seems someone other than the Avi Ha’ben asked the second Shayla. What is the point of asking two shayalas? We are not supposed to hunt for hetayrim.
The first two psakim the baal simcha received were that he had to do it on monday. The third psak was to do it on sunday( which is what he wanted) so he scheduled for sunday. When somone found this out he called the Rav who gave the sunday psak and when he was made aware thet the ball simcha had received two psakin already for monday he instructed the mohel not to perform the bris until monday.
Oy vey, this should be the biggest problem.
Reb Moshe Feinsteins holds you make the bris SUNDAY
