N.J. Among 30 States That May Investigate Google WiFi Breach

google-admobjpg-087cde0481c245aa_largeAs many as 30 states, including New Jersey, are considering joining forces to investigate Google’s gathering of personal data via wireless networks. The joint probe, led by Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, will seek additional information from Google about data being transferred over unsecured wireless networks using the firm’s Street View cars.

Google has said the data — collected mistakenly — was unfortunate but still lawful. The probe will seek to determine if Google broke the law, Blumenthal said. Read full article in Star Ledger.

  1. I’m so glad the state lawyers will have something to do this summer instead of waiting to see the findings of the other 20+ states and reviewing their data to see if it’s pertinent. NJ Innovation – Reinventing the Wheel!

  2. First of all New Jersey is not leading the investigation, Connecticut’s Attorney General is and at no point in the article did it say they were going ahead with anything prior to reviewing all of the data. This is one instance were knocking NJ wasn’t necessary.
