With about 20% of residents already using the new, big yellow recycling bins, TLS inquired as to how the new system is working out. “The system is doing well-it could be better than expected” DPW Director John Franklin said of the new Single-stream recycling system. “There are some seniors who don’t want them, and we’ll see how to deal with it”. “Some people don’t like change”. He added, that the DPW has already dropped one truck and driver, already saving the town money.”It’s really a win-win situation.
Once people get used to this idea, they will be saving alot of money by recycling, and we’re really excited about that” he said.
The bins are being distributed at the rate of approximately 300-500 per day. All residents should have received them over the next few weeks.
Did John Franklin Fill out His Census Form? – I mean – sure – they’re dropping the Drivers and the trucks but how are we going to pay for the production of the yellow bins.
So how does hh expect the seniors who can’t change to vote for him and not the good old Bobby ?
When are Zone 1 residents getting them? I can’t wait. My blue can is overflowing.
John?…… Census?…..
Thank you so much! I’m looking forward to the new system. I can’t wait to receive mine. Please do Zone 1 ASAP.
I was in a local grocery and already say them with five of them in their warehouse for hauling stuff!
a real waste some one is making big money off this there are to many things that can not be put in to the cans it is such a pain and real waste so little paper can go in if its a little soiled it cant go in pizza boxes which are pretty thin cant go in just mail and papers from home work what a waste there is hardly any additional fhings that you can put in the yellow cans that did not go in to the old cans and who is paying for those very large new trucks that are picking up the yellow cans what a shame what a waste
Stay away from clifton today cops are writing tickets on every corner!!!
I grew up in T’rono ay and let me tell you something…. It’s about time all the Lakewood Sons-in-law understand the pain that their Shviggers go through. This Stupid Yellow container is a drop in the bucket. Did you know that before you can throw out a used tissue in T’rono you have to separate the ……… from the tissue and place them in separate bins? Did you know that leftover chulent has to be sorted out… Beans, in one bin, Barley in another and even the ketchup has to be extracted and placed in a separate bin. This is why I appreciate my mother and it’s about time you start appreciating your shviggers.
I had three blue cans- that I paid for
They were taken and replaced with a single yellow receptacle
how about some money back….
to #7 – u have no idea what u are talking about.
Wow , Saved 1 driver and 1 truck.
These things cost a million dollars or more and he’s bragging it saved 50k.
Government is NEVER about saving money.
Did all the Canadians that live here fill out their Census forms? Can they spare their Shver’s a dime? I mean – shouldn’t they look elsewhere for support? their poor shviggers go through so much
I actually love the DPW, some of their employees are really loyal to the community and do a great job, but couldn’t resist commenting.
It is even better than that.
We didn’t actually “save” a truck and driver, did we sell the truck and lay-off (or put him into a position of someone that is leaving) the driver? No, we just now have the pleasure of another idle truck in the garage and another driver to do……..
I hope with the implementation of this new single stream system, our public works department will end cardboard pickup from businesses entirely. They could get rid of numerous trucks. The businesses can either bring the cardboard to the plant themselves or there are many unemployed laborers who would be thrilled to fill up a truck, take it to the plant, and receive a check for the cardboard. Granted, there would be less ways to intimidate businesses, fine them, or shake them down, for not having their boxes put out correctly. Nevertheless, the savings in actual dollars would be substantial. I am sure those that wish to use the DPW to send messages to people that step out of line, can find other ways to retain their power.
what a serious waste of money do you have any clue how much these cans cost and then have the nerve to want to lay people off there was nothing wrong with the old system the county recycling could care less how recycling got to there facility blue can yellow it didn’t matter. OH now any one who needs an extra can for that extra cardboard take out your wallets 45 dollars to lease a can this was not a smart purchace trust me money down the drain
to 11 you seem to be getting some thing the deal with these new yellow cans you go out speak to regular residents those that are getting nothing from the whole deal they are noy very happy
Will they be giveing out tickets for being an eyesore.?
Blue can are free, to # 10 did you paid??
You only pay for the green ones. The Twp never charged for the blue ones. I think you are mistaken.
Can’t wait to see how pretty the green-yellow color combination will look on a trash pickup day in autumn.
John Franklin has gotta go already these cans was all about helping someone make money on our backs, its a severe recession and hes busy spending money on useless ugly garbage cans. Big chuztpa.
Few paintings and sculptures are instantly recognized as masterpieces.
As time goes by and seasons change, a new spirit of enlightenment
will open the hearts and souls of mankind. And when that day dawns,
we will look at the yellow trash bins as public works of art.
