JUST IN: Township Vehicle Rips Down Tomchei Shabbos Billboard

PHOTOS of the Township ripping down the Tomchei Shabbos billboard, claiming it was illegally placed at the intersection of County Line and Squankum, moments ago. A Township vehicle deliberately drove into the approximate 5×5 foot sign, ripping it down and then placing it on another Township truck. The sign was placed to advertise their upcoming dinner, which will be taking place this coming Sunday at Bais Faiga.

  1. we should request for a billboard on clifton and 3rd just like they put up for every other event in lakewood including the distribution of food to the homeless.

  2. I know Mr. N. Owner and operator of Four Corners. He said, the grass the sign “was” mounted on belongs to Four Corners.
TLS, please remove your comment ‘illegally placed’.

  3. wait a minute, tax payer dollars were just used as one of Public Works vehicles to ram down a sign, driving across a sidewalk. I see Pete Roman the guy throwing the sign into his truck. Time to eliminate some public works jobs and trim the fat.

  4. Why do we think we can do what we want. We all know that Tomchei Shabbos is a wonderful organization, but havent we learned in the past few months that no matter what the reasons we must follow laws! Do we need the government to start enforcing the law and give fines and jail time?

  5. I can understand them taking down the sign due to it having been displayed illegally. BUT, since when did it become legal to operate a vehicle on a sidewalk? This individual risked pedestrian’s lives, I hope at least one of the witnesses reports this to the proper authorities.

  6. What ‘they’ do does not make it right. Everyone has to be responsible for their actions. We must follow the law.
Regarding #3, it doesnt matter if it was on private property, you cant put up signs – know the law before you say things

  7. Even if the sign was put up without the nessecary Permits , The remedy for the town is to issue a code violation, ripping it down is like me walking into your store and taking money out of the register because i claim you owe me money

  8. here we go again the DPW thinking it runs this town. i guess they’ll get hammered here if they can’t do things civilly make a phone call or take it down with out damaging. either way it seems like DPW thinks they are the township committee and enforcer’s (isn’t there a Police Dept.).

  9. the guy driving the pickup forgot whats the gas and break, so not to look stupid he took away the sign, so it looks like “they” took it down….

  10. When the Democrats were in charge they didn’t close down a Moisid on Erev Yom kipur for over crowding (they could have told 2 guys to leave instead of cloing it down). They also didn’t come in in middle of the night to the schools dorm with shot guns, etc the main thing is don’t complain. Listen to meir, menashe, steve, bob “don’t complain”.

You can issue a summons to the township truck driver for driving on sidewalk 39:4-138. Damaging private property. No front license plate. IN NJ A CITIZEN MAY ISSUE A SUMMONS.

  11. Why are they allowed to park in 4 corners parking lot it’s only for customers of 4 corners? They should have called a tow truck to tow them away it’s illegal to use the parking lot for anything other then being a customer of 4 corners

  12. I bet you this is all over sounding bigger then it is. They took down the sign. Yous your head do you think they will take a pick up truck back up then floor it!!???? Come on who are you kidding

  13. Time to revamp the DPW john franklin should go and be replaced with an outsider not another official from the current dpw.
or better outsource the trash pick up and save money to the township.

  14. Even though the sign was placed on private property it was in the sight triangle any body in constuction knows that you can’t put anything in a sight triangle even a chain link fence can’t go there (and besides it was blocking the drivers view coming off of squnakum )
The other sign around town where not taken down so something must have been different about this one as was just stated
GOOD JOB DPW FOR MAKING THAT CORNER SAFE AGAIN

  15. I believe taxpayer dollars are used to purchase these vehicles. Now why are they used as demolition vehicles when they are constructed solely to transport people or objects NOT TO RAM into signs. Can’t they find a better way to remove a sign??? What happens when the truck gets damaged as result of such action? Taxpayer dollars will go to work again!!

  16. i have contacted them MANY times to find out about certais stories. first when i asked them that the rosh hashivah never said
that they said “we thought he did” and once they said ” we were told he was matir it”. i love how they base themselves on torah and they have NOTHING torah about them besides having some torah videos.

at least vin and yw and tls dont claim to be the ‘torah website’. the torah doesnt want anyone to have websites. so if you already do, then dont talk about dirty things and clai,m they came from a gadol. a gadol wont talk about those issues and forsure not in public.

  17. clearly nothing less than an anti semetic act, an act that is normal for an extreemley bitter person. People like this should not be working for our town.

  18. I think the township was upset that tomchei shabbos did not use they’re graphics co. Bp graphics to make the sign so they knocked it down!! Township says always use bp graphics!

  19. Wow, lets get rid of DPW now…….Do that and this will be like every other town in the area, you will have to pay for trash removal or do it yourself…Not to mention these guys working OT on certain holidays…don’t jump the gun…

  20. Pete Roman was there to dispose of the sign after it was ordered to be taken down by the inspection department not public works. The DPW bashers must be the slum lords Pete writes tickets to on a regular basis.

  21. if i recall correctly the code in every town is that a zoning permit is required for the erection of a sign (i think a temporary sign as well) and the fact that public works took it down in such a wild manner should be checked into however i don’t believe that every time something like this happens do (a small percent of) people from the community have to cry antisemitism

  22. John Franklin says:
    January 14, 2010 at 12:04 pm
Seems that the public works does a better job plowing the signs than plowing the snow!

    Very very well said.

  23. most of u can’t be for real. DPW did not knock down the sign with a truck. The blue truck on the sidewalk is from the Inspection dept. They knocked down the illegally installed sign. When they couldn’t fit it in there vehicle they called Pete to come over and put it in his truck. Had the sign placers taken the time to inquire at the building dept about the laws regarding sign installation the signs could have been placed in proper locations and not blocking the sight triangles. As far as the location the sign gad been placed at it is part of the Township and County right of way.

  24. WHATS WITH THESE GUYS THEY THINK THEY OWN THIS TOWN IF THIS GUY DOES NOT GET PUNISHED WE WILL MAKE SURE EVERY GUY GETS REMOVED AND WE ELECT A NEW COMMITIE IN THIS TOWN THAT DOES’NT LET THESE GUYS WITH THE PICK UP TRUCKS DO WHAT EVER THEY WISH WHERES LEADERSHIP WHEN WE NEED IT PROBABLY SHUVING THIS UNDER SOME RUG IN THE TOWNSHIP BUILDING ENOUGH OF THOSE GANGSTERS THERE MUST MUST MUST BE ACCOUNTABILITY
