UPDATE On Fatal Hit And Run R’L [Featured Story]

candle(UPDATED (New time and location) Levaya info below for Habachur Shalom Werther Z’L) BARUCH DAYAN HA’EMES: TLS Just spoke with Reb Yisroel Schenkolewski-who is currently in Eretz Yisroel-regarding the tragic story which occurred this evening as first reported here on TLS. Reb Yisroel just got off the phone with the Medical Examiners Office who agreed to only perform a Virtual Autopsy on the Bachur, as per the protocol set in place with Reb Yisroel a number of years ago. An Autopsy of some sort was required, being that the charges involve Vehicular Manslaughter due to the hit and run. The name of the Bachur has not yet been released pending the notification of a family member learning in Eretz Yisroel. We will keep you informed on Levaya details when we receive them. Besuros Tovos.

U/D  The Levaya will be taking place at Rabbi Gissinger’s Shul on Sunset Road at 12:00 p.m. and Kevura will be taking place in Deans NJ. May we only share in Simchos.

U/D 10:01 a.m. Levaya time and location has changed. The Levaya will be taking place at Bais Shaindel (685 River Avenue-right past Kimball Medical Center) at 11:30 a.m.

U/D 10:57 a.m. Levaya time has been changed again to 12:00 p.m. at Bais Shaindel.

  1. To Shloimie:
Although we have been told the name immediatley after the accident and although many may know the name by now, it has been requested by several Askonim that we refrain from publishing the name until it is to be made public. We adhere to Da’as Torah and work with Askonim. Thank you for understanding.

  2. Unless, of course, they asked not to release the name yet. Well, in that case, you’d be right & they are wrong. And I would be very prpud of u 4 not writing the name. Truthfully, I should really give u a mitzva note.

  3. thank tou to TLS for being so kind and holding back the name unitl all the brothers have been notified. All the brothers have been notified and you may release the name. They r originally from milwauke, southbend, denver, virginia. They tust moved to lakewood last year to join thier other children who live in lakewood already. Both Mother and Father are mechanchim for over 30 years

  4. very nice that you witholding the name, but now that you announced the time and place of the levaya, how in the world are we supposed to know whose levaya it is?

  5. Is this the family that moved into the house next door to R’ Gissinger’s house that was recently completed on Freedom Drive at the end of the cul-de-sac?

  6. please note the name is Sholom Werther AH- he was able to get his brother who was with him out of the way of harm.

the reason the name was withhld was becuase we couldnot contact one of the sibilings in Israel until about 1:30 Am. We got him on a plane within 3 hours.

We the friends of the Werthers thank the TLC for their respect of the entire family being informed before publicly announcing the name.

Peopel were already calling from Israel becuase other Websites were misinformed that all were notified – which was wrong.

please be sensative to the comments you post as family and friends from all over have been monitoring the jewish websites for updates.

  7. Our prayers and heart are with the family of this bochur. May he ascend to the Kisay Hakovod and be a kapara for K’lal Yisreol and the Jews in Lakewood.

  8. The editor never said askonim are daas Torah. What he said was that he listens to Daas Torah which in turn tells him to listen to askonim. Please read before commenting. Some people just seem to always be looking to shoot a negative comment in there.

  9. The oilam should really give a huge Yasher Koach to R’ Schenkolewski for urging the med examiner to only do a virtual autopsy. Its truly unbelievable what he achieved in regard to Nituchei Meisim. Especially in NJ which has very strict laws.

  10. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. And a thanks to all the emergency personal who responded to the scene to render aid.

  11. A big yasher coach to the chevrah kadisha that where working till 2 am then went back to work at 7 and won’t be finished till after the levaya

Who needs rabbonim when we can just call the askanim . After all according to you the rabbonim said to listen to the askanim . Precisely which rav said to listen to which of the hundreds of askanim in this town?

  13. Kudos to TLS for answering to a higher authority and respecting the wishes of the tzubruchene family. May H-Shem comfort the family.
If only some of the other neias outlets learn from TLS and other yeshivishe news outlets the beauty of consulting with family and Rabbonim before posting names.
T’hey Nishmosai Hakdosha Zrura Bzror Hachaim
