Hatzolah of Central Jersey Welcomes Scott Topiol, MSN, RN, CEN, MICN, as New Quality Improvement Director

Hatzolah of Central Jersey today announced the addition of Scott Topiol, MSN, RN, CEN, MICN, to our esteemed team.

Hatzolah stated, “Scott joins us in the newly created role of Quality Improvement (QI) Director, a position established in response to the significant growth and evolution of our organization over the past few years.”

Scott brings over 20 years of invaluable EMS experience, along with a profound commitment to enhancing patient care and organizational excellence. His extensive background includes serving as a Nurse Educator for the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD), where he supports nearly 5,000 personnel responding to approximately 350,000 EMS calls annually. Scott’s expertise spans roles such as a Critical Care Transport Nurse, Program Coordinator, and Mobile Intensive Care Nurse (MICN) at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

”In his new role, Scott will collaborate closely with our members, education team, medical director, and leadership to further elevate the high standards of patient care that Hatzolah of Central Jersey is known for. His dedication to understanding the unique needs and values of our community aligns perfectly with our mission to provide focused and supportive quality improvement initiatives.”

Scott began his EMS career in 2003 as a volunteer EMT in the Town of Chili, New York, and professionally with Rural/Metro Rochester. His current role with the LACoFD involves providing EMS Education and Quality Improvement support to a department of nearly 5,000 personnel, personally supporting about 150 EMTs and paramedics handling approximately 25,000 EMS runs per year. He also serves as an active military reservist in the United States Public Health Service, contributing to public health and disaster response efforts across the nation.

A recognized leader in his field, Scott recently received the Clinical Excellence Award from the California Emergency Medical Services Authority for his contributions to improving patient care through education, quality improvement, and direct patient care. He holds a master’s degree in nursing education from Western Governors University and a post-graduate certificate in Global Health and Global Health Engagement from Uniformed Services University.

Scott resides in the Fairfax-La Brea area of Los Angeles with his wife and three children and is a member of Hatzolah of Los Angeles (LA-16). He also created the 911cast EMS Podcast, further showcasing his dedication to EMS education and quality improvement.
