Tragic Petirah of R’ Sruly Gelman Z”L [UPDATED – Hookup and other important information]

It is with much regret we inform you of the tragic Petirah of R’ Sruly Gelman Z”L.

R’ Sruly Z”L was involved in a biking accident in Howell on August 14, and unfortunately never recovered.

R’ Sruly Z”L, a resident of the Brookhill community, had just celebrated his 50th birthday.

The Levaya will tentatively be taking place at 5 PM at Khal Ateres Yeshaya, with Kevura in Lakewood at approximately 6:30 PM.

UPDATE: A live audio of the Levaya will be available by calling 718-906-6400. Press * for Live Shiurim, and choose Rav Simcha Bunim Cohen.

The Bais Medrash will be for men, and the Ezras Nashim for women. The overflow crowd will be in the Simcha Hall downstairs.

Kohanim will be allowed inside, as the Aron is remaining outside.

Expect heavy delays between Somerset Avenue and Twin Oaks Drive between 4:30 PM-7 PM.

  1. BD’E My dear friend Sruli..Pure Sugar we lost today. Nicest,sweetest,warmest person you can ever meet.Can’t stop crying-miss him so much already. Thank you Hashem for letting me know such a person like Sruli. Hashem should comfort his special family and return them to simchas quickly.

  2. Speechless. BDE… what a loss for this special family, anyone who I know from the Gelman family is above and beyond warm and special. Did not know R’ Gelman ztl but he left behind an absolute treasure of a family… may Hashem comfort you!!! So heartbroken.

  3. Sruli,a yedid nefesh mine from The days of Mir,!!oy vey!! What a loss. A heilig yid,we met every Shabbos on the way to Psichas Hahron,where he would stand and say Brich Shmai with such kavana,how can we forget such a special yid. Always a smile with a warm Good Shabbos. Always busy with some chessed in shul. Always quiet no fanfare,Besoch Ami Onichi yosheves kind of person. May Hakodosh Baruch Hu be Menachem the family. Will never forget him ,a zechus to have known him. Besuros Tovos.

  4. Everyone loved Sruly because Sruly poshut loved every Yid. An unusual baal chesed and Hatznei Haleches.
    He always greeted everyone with a true smile and a good word . It is such a painful loss.

  6. OIsh, this is so sad. Sruly was a good friend from high-school. What a great guy. More recently, I would see him very often at the 1:45 Mincha in Covetry Shul. Always with a line, a joke, a chizzuk. A real Mentch.
    He will be sorely missed.
